Bright Florals on a Dark Background with Sunlit Garden | TaeEun Yoo

Hello everyone! I hope your week is off to a great start! It’s TaeEun here today with a colorful floral card featuring the beautiful Sunlit Garden suite. I paired the detailed floral frame with a deep teal background to make the flowers really glow, and I love how the silver foiling and white splatter add an elegant and dreamy finish.

Here is how I made the card.

1. Hot foil the Sunlit Garden image in silver onto Premium Watercolor Paper.
2. Watercolor the image using Premium Liquid Watercolors
   - For the flowers, use Bubble Gum, Clementine, Sunshine, Sky Blue, Seaside and Lavender.
   - For the Leaves, use Grassy Knoll, mixing in a bit of Sunshine or Seaside to create a variety of green tones.
3. Once the watercoloring is finished, die cut the Sunlit Garden image using the coordinating die.
4. Ink blend the front of a dark teal cardbase with Atlantis and Lush Forest, keeping the center lighter and darkening the outer area.
5. Heat emboss the sentiment from the Sunlit Garden cling stamp in white directly onto the center of the card front.
6. Cover the sentiment with a piece of printer paper and splatter white opaque ink onto the card front. Let it dry completely.
7. Adhere the watercolored Sunlit Garden image to the card using foam tape for dimension.
8. Finish the card by scattering a few Silver Metallic Pearls for added shine.

A little crafty tip for this design: pairing a bright floral frame with a dark ink blended background is a wonderful way to make the bright colors stand out even more.
White splatters are one of my favorite finishing touches on a dark background. They add beautiful contrast, extra texture, and a soft dreamy feel.
